Sandra Dunn was commissioned to make Spinal Column by the Region of Waterloo as one of a series of artworks installed at ION light rail stations.

Sandra forged the bench out of a light rail track and her concept reflected the region’s manufacturing backbone and the new transit network as its spine.

Sandra has been blacksmithing for 30 years. She owns and operates Two Smiths, a design and prototyping studio in the Bridgeport neighbourhood that turns steel, copper and bronze into incredible sculptures, functional objects and stunning architectural details.

Go see _Spinal Column at the Grand River Hospital ION stop & come hear Sandra explain how she made this stunning public artwork starting at 7:30pm, followed by Q&A session.

Sandra will speak in 44 Gaukel Creative Workspace's flex space, off the secondary entrance facing Gaukel Block. Capacity in the flex space & inside the facility is limited, so attendees are encouraged to get a free Eventbrite ticket as walk-up access may be restricted.

_"How I Made..." artist talks are produced & presented by the City of Kitchener's Arts & Creative Industries team.
